Little Dramas at the Danforth Art Museum opens September 13. There are plenty of puppets, props and puppet videos. “Let Them Eat Cake” stars the Puppetmaster, Cook, Judge, Wizard and Vaneeta. The Cook decides she can bamboozle the Wizard and Vaneeta. The two Reds decide cheating and bribing will work best for them. The Puppetmaster orchestrates it all. All content by artist © 2025
Mirror Mirror, premiered at the Brownsville Museum of Art in Texas. The juror, Alison de Lima Greene, the Isabel Brown Wilson Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, selected and awarded me first place in the video and digital media category.
This video is a puppet fractured fairy-tale starring Vaneeta, my self-obsessed puppet with the golden hair and mirror. Vaneeta tells me that of course she would win first place. She is waiting to star in another video. Joking aside, I was pleased to bring this piece to a Texas audience.
Cranky:
I’ve been making a Cranky which is a moving scenery device for puppetry. I just had fun in the studio setting up various scenes with the cranky. The moving scenery depicts the Reds and Greys environs and is fourteen feet long. I set up hand puppets and my figurines.
