January opens with You Really Got Me a show curated by Randy Garber. This show looks at humor and women artists. Humor is complicated and the show allows the viewer to contemplate the many ways that artists employ it.
The show opens January 3 — February 27. I hope you can join me at the opening reception on February 13 from 6-8 pm at the Jameson and Thompson Gallery 18 Bartlett Square in Jamaica Plain, MA

In More Winter News: I was very pleased to be one of thirteen artists chosen by Northern Illinois University Art Museum exhibition national juried show: “Windows to the Subconscious” The exhibition asks what is the job of dreams? We all dream, what is their purpose? What truths might they reveal? How do they shape our perception of ourselves and our understanding of the world? Dreams are windows into our subconscious minds. Some dreams may tell a complete story while others provide random fragments of memories we may or may not recognize. Often, we have no conscious memory of our dreams. Yet, they can help us create new or different realities. There are myriad opinions regarding the role of the mysterious narratives and imagery generated by our brains while we are unconscious. (from their prospectus). The show runs from March 19 – May 10, 2025. Reception is March 20.
True Knowledge © B. Lynch 2022 HD video 03:41

This surreal, idiosyncratic video is my nightmare. The protagonists are motivated by greed, their willing followers by violence. This is not a comfortable vision of society for me. My constructed world of the Reds and Greys is one of money and power disparity, unfortunately it has many parallels to our own world.
What is True Knowledge? The Wolfman claims to have it, and wants the Greys to follow him. He needs money to carry on the fight. The conflagration erupts and only the Noble seems to be receiving the “true knowledge” i.e. gold; while the Wolfman does a fast fade. Acted by puppets for much of the video, the playfulness is counteracted by the violence called for and delivered. Is it a cautionary tale staged by the Puppetmaster? A fable for our time? The world of the Reds and Greys is ambiguous. The distressed look of the video echoes the theme. All content by artist.
